Silk Gold Kermes
The exhibition illustrates silk textile production in Lombardy in the 15th century, through approximately fifty works including refined patterned velvets, lampas and damask, predominantly gold and sliver brocades, precious embroideries with gold and pearl, as well as an extremely rare kaftan belonging to the Boyar of Wallachia.
Finally, playing cards, tarot cards, gold jewelry and paintings bear witness to the close relationship between the different sumptuary arts which characterized the extreme upper classes of Milanese society, the wealthy patron of textile products.
