Collecting artifacts is not something that is motivated by one clear aim, and very often, it does not have a precise objective at all. Art is not nurtured by having a clear purpose: taste and personal preferences are the subtle, changeable elements that are at the heart of all choices made by collectors.

The sentiment moving us envelops all antique textile art artifacts, with a preference for carpets, tapestries, kilims, embroideries, and it touches every facet of the Gallery’s soul, our collection, our study centre, our conservation laboratory, and our publishing house. Sharing this feeling is our highest calling.

Frieze Masters 2025

We are delighted to announce that Gallery Moshe Tabibnia partecipated in the 13th edition of Frieze Masters 2025.

Over one hundred galleries, among the most prominent on the international art scene, attended Frieze Masters at The Regent's Park in the heart of London.

EXHIBITION

TRANSITUM. Fabrizio Cotognini

from 03/04/2025 to 05/07/2025

On the occasion of “Transitum”, solo show of artist Fabrizio Cotognini, curated by Marina Dacci and on view in BUILDING from April 3rd to July 19th, 2025; Gallery Moshe Tabibnia, from April 3rd to July 5th, 2025, hosts the sculpture “L’iperboreo” (2025) and some preparatory drawings in a precious setting of Persian matrix, in which animals and natural elements are the protago- nists. The textile specimens on display – which are the product of the most important manufactures of Safavid Persia – aim to recreate the natural environment for the bronze swan.

Textiles from 15th to 17th Century: Fondazione Antonio Ratti in dialogue with Gallery Moshe Tabibnia

On the occasion of Milano MuseoCity 2025, Gallery Moshe Tabibnia and Fondazione Antonio Ratti come together to create an exhibition dedicated to antique textiles.

On show will be iconic works in terms of typology and decorative patterns from European textile production from the 15th to the 17th centuries. These textiles of great value and richness can be found today as fragments, small or medium-sized, some of which retain silhouettes, remains of stitching or folds that testify to their past use as clothing or furnishings.

The exhibition presents a significant selection of Fiber Art works, "a current that bases its work on the use of texture, understood both as pulp, thread, fibre or fabric, and as technical, conceptual or virtual procedures".

Sacred Material

Gallery Moshe Tabibnia is delighted to present Sacred Material, a new exhibition that brings together over forty carpets, tapestries and fabrics dating from the 15th to the 19th Century that explore the relationship between ancient textiles and the theme of the sacred. The exhibition is on from October 26th, 2022 to February 12th, 2023 at via Brera 3 in Milan.

Bayeux Tapestry to be displayed at the British Museum

23/09/2026

The 70-metre Bayeux Tapestry depicts the 1066 Norman invasion and Battle of Hastings, and is due to go on display in the Sainsbury Exhibitions Gallery at the British Museum in the autumn of 2026. The Museum will draw on its own collection as well as other loans in order to tell a rich story about this period of history.

Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Trembles

The exhibition is a wide-ranging and complex project of great expressive power, tracing Shiota’s entire body of work through drawings, photographs, sculptures, and some of her most celebrated environmental and monumental installations. Often inspired by personal experiences, Chiharu Shiota’s works explore the intangible—memories, emotions, images and dreamlike visions—offering spaces of silence and contemplation, while raising questions about universal and existential concepts such as identity, relationships with others, life and death. Transcending temporal and spatial boundaries, her works engage the most intimate and vulnerable aspects of the human being.

Textiles from 15th to 17th Century: Fondazione Antonio Ratti in dialogue with Gallery Moshe Tabibnia

On the occasion of Milano MuseoCity 2025, Gallery Moshe Tabibnia and Fondazione Antonio Ratti come together to create an exhibition dedicated to antique textiles. On show will be iconic works in terms of typology and decorative patterns within the sphere of European textile production between 1400s and 1600s. Elements such as the pomegranate, the thistle and the pine cone dominate the repertoires of the Ratti Foundation's velvets, lampas and brocatelle. We find the same motifs transposed in the knotted carpets of Gallery Moshe Tabibnia, which, despite their different techniques, materials and origins, when placed in dialogue well testify to the choral nature of this field.

WOMEN IN WHITE. SIX CENTURIES OF TEXTILE MASTERPIECES FROM THE COLLECTIONS OF PALAZZO MADAMA

On the occasion of the reinstallation of the Textile Gallery, on Wednesday 26 February 2025 Palazzo Madama presents an exhibition that explores the close material and symbolic connection linking white—the natural colour of silk and linen—to women.

Through a selection of fifty textile artefacts preserved in the collections of Palazzo Madama—six of which have been restored for this occasion and fourteen displayed for the first time—curator Paola Ruffino guides visitors along a centuries-long history, from minute embroidery and intricate lacework to the most iconic white garment associated with women: the wedding dress.
